In our culture, happiness can sometimes be almost a dirty word. Many of us have been brought up to value ‘hard' work and achievement over having fun and enjoying life. Not that enjoying life wasn’t important, but rather that it was secondary to getting ahead and making something of yourself in the world. However I absolutely believe the opposite to be true and I work with clients to challenge this thinking every day. When you are doing what you love, and creating a life you love, success will flow from the motivation and energy which is created in this joyful state. You can’t really fake it until you make it. If you’re not having fun and you're not feeling joyful, the energy you put out into the world will be low and the results which follow will match your energy. This is a challenge for many of my clients who are high performing and driven leaders when they first approach me for coaching. When you’re already short on time, slowing down to smell the roses doesn’t seem like a good idea. There’s a fear things will get out of control and feel even more overwhelming than they already do. But the thing is that if you don’t stop to look after yourself and enjoy your life then you’ll never get to enjoy the fruits of your labour. If you are always working ‘hard' and achieving, you’re not taking the time out to really enjoy all your hard work. And if you’re not willing to slow down and enjoy it, then why are you doing all this hard work to begin with? Perhaps you want to make a difference? You absolutely CAN make your own unique difference in the world without burning yourself out in the process. In fact, the better you take care of you and create a joyful and inspired inner state, the more powerfully you’ll be able to know exactly what you need to do to make that difference. No one wants to hear from someone who’s working themselves into the ground. That’s not energising and inspiring. We may admire someone’s diligence and commitment, but deep down what we all want is to feel good isn’t it? Isn’t that how you decide what to do in the first place? I mean you don’t sit down and decide to do something just for the hell of it. You do the things you do because you’re drawn to for some inner meaning and reason. That’s not to say hard work isn’t part of the journey. Of course it is. But you don’t let hard work be your reason do you? The reason comes first - to make a difference and to feel good while you’re at it - and then the ‘hard’ work just becomes just one small part of the journey rather than all of it. If you want to feel light and inspired and connected with your work then start with feeling light and inspired and connected within yourself first. Know your reasons for doing all you are. Understand what you’d most like to experience and to CREATE in the world, and then allow your efforts to flow from this. Spend some time cultivating joy in yourself first. Do the things you love. Spend time with the people who mean most to you. Appreciate the moments you have to just take in life around you. It doesn’t matter if you are in a ‘job' or a business or any personal endeavour - you chose it! You chose it for a reason. If it’s no longer serving you and increasing your happiness and well being then I’d urge you to reflect on what’s getting in the way. Maybe you’re not growing in the way you’d like. Maybe there’s ways you could stretch and challenge yourself and feel more joyful in the role you are in. Or maybe it’s time to take stock and consider a change of life direction or career change so you can truly make the difference in the world you want to make. There’s no point continuing forward on a path which makes you bored, overwhelmed or miserable. It will only create more boredom, overwhelm and misery. Life is far too short to do things which don’t make you happy. ____ ✨ARE YOU READY TO CREATE, LEAD AND LIVE THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS?✨ Are you ready to feel inspired, clear and confident to move forward with the vision you have for your life and career? Would you like to overcome the internal and external barriers which have prevented you gaining clarity and moving forward with these goals before? Is it finally time to let go of the guilt and nature yourself, knowing that looking after you only benefits those around you? If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place. I work with professionals and leaders every day who feel like they are still figuring things out in their careers and lives. I know you want to make a difference in the world in some way or you wouldn’t be reading this. But it can take some time to get clear on what exactly this looks like for you. Not to mention then taking the leap, moving forward and ‘making it happen’. It's also easy when we are juggling so many things to put off our important goals and dreams telling ourselves we will get there some day.... This is why I've created a range of tools and programs - to help you overcome the barriers to progress the dreams and goals that are important to you.
